Station 84, which is located on the campus of Ben Davis High School, houses six pieces of emergency equipment. Of note, Engine 84 was the busiest engine in Wayne Township in 2009. Additionally, this station is home to Ladder 84, Medic 84, Safety 8, and the USAR equipment trailers. Safety 8 is the department’s on-duty safety officer, taking the safety officer’s role on all incidents and taking care of injured personnel as they receive treatment. The USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) team is housed entirely within Station 84. Station 84’s members have been trained in standard search roles and in the Project Lifesaver Search Class. Ladder 84 is a 2001 American LaFrance Eagle 93’ Mid-Mount Platform with a 2000 GPM pump and 200 gallon water tank. Ladder 84 serves as the primary ladder on the north and west sides of the township and as half of the department’s special rescue team.
Engine 84 is a 2003 American LaFrance Eagle Pumper with a 2000 GPM pump and a 500 gallon water tank.
Project Lifesaver
Medic 84 is a 2006 Ford E450 / Lifeline ALS transporting ambulance. Medic 84 is a tactical truck that is only staffed during identified peak run hours in the township.
Safety 8 is a 2005 Ford Expedition. Safety 8 responds throughout the township as the Incident Safety officer, Command support, and also responds on any accidents or injuries throughout the department.
MR-8 and the USAR trailer respond with Station 84 personnel as the department’s urban search and rescue task force and also to Project Lifesaver callouts.
