Station 81, at the south end of Wayne Township is responsible for protecting the Mars Hill area. Engine and Medic 81 are housed here. Additionally, Wayne Township’s Hazardous Materials response team responds from Station 81. The two pieces of response apparatus for the team, Tactical 81 and Support 81, are designed to carry the bulk of the equipment and materials needed for the team. All personnel at this station are trained to the level of HazMat Technician and are the primary entry team for hazardous materials incidents.
Engine 81 is a 2007 Seagrave Marauder II Custom Pumper. It has a 2000 gpm pump with 500 gallons of water and 60 gallons of foam.
Medic 81 is a 2006 Ford E450 built by Lifeline. It is one of four full-time ALS ambulances that respond to more than 8500 EMS calls in 2009.
Tactical 81 is a 1982 3D Heavy Rescue on a 1994 Spartan Gladiator chassis. Tactical 81 carries most of the entry equipment for Wayne Township’s Hazardous Materials team.
Support 81 is 1988 Spartan tractor pulling a 1990 Hesse/Fontaine 45’ custom equipment trailer. This vehicle completes the HazMat team responses by supplying extra entry supplies and various absorbents and containers. The rear of the trailer houses the entry team’s Gator that is used for hauling equipment on the scene.

In December of 2010, Station 81 marked their new Haz Mat Tactical in service. This piece of equipment marked the end of service for two historic pieces of wayne Township Equipment. Tactical 81 which had been serving a second life after a complete refurb in the late 90’s including a new chassis, and Support 81, which had been in service since the early 90’s and the only tractor trailer combination Wayne Township had ever used as a response vehicle. The Support was sold and has already been picked up be its new owners, while the tactical is currently for sale. Both vehicles are pictured below.
Tactical 81 is the newest piece of equipment at Station 81. It serves as the response vehicle for Wayne Township’s Haz-Mat team. It is a 2010 Pierce Velocity Heavy Rescue Chassis.
